Sin City Slots – Big Vegas and Cazino Zeppelin Reviewed

Some play slots for a bit of casual fun, others are looking to bring all the action of the Vegas strip right into their homes…or pockets, for that matter. And it’s not as if these kinds of slots are in short supply, either. Which is why we thought we’d highlight two of our own top-picks, in the form of Big Vegas and Cazino Zeppelin. A similar theme, though very different experiences we’d recommend checking out in both instances!

Big Vegas

First up, Big Vegas was designed to serve up the classic Vegas experience for those not willing or able to travel all the way out to Nevada. Bally Technologies developed and launched this little gem a while back, which features five reels, 40 paylines and spins from 40p right up to £400 each. It’s also fully compatible with most mobile devices.

Dice, poker chips, fruit machines, playing cards, cocktails and so on – all the symbols you’d expect to see are present and correct. There’s also a set of keys in there and a fruit machine, which in the case of the latter is worth a payout of 300 coins when landing five in a row. And of course, a wild is thrown in for good measure.

There’s an interesting roulette wheel in play which acts as a directional wild and can appear on the second and fourth reels. When it spins, wilds will appear in a line either horizontally, vertically or diagonally in accordance with its position. This in turn means the chance of hitting a second strong payout.

Outside the normal game, the key feature is of course the Free Spins round, which can be accessed by landing at least three scatters on the middle three reels. Along with being rewarded with five free spins to play for, you’ll also instantly receive a payout worth a generous 3X your total line bet. It’s also worth noting that the same directional wilds feature as in the base game applies during the bonus round, though is limited to the third reel only. Plus there’s an additional purple wild, which when hit stays in place for the duration of the round. If you’re lucky enough to land the purple wild and the directional multiplier at the same time, you could be in for some impressive wins!

Both the visuals and the gameplay of Big Vegas are relaxed, enjoyable and great for spending a little time with. Everything is kept pretty simple and there’s not a great deal of depth to it, in terms of key features and bonus rounds. However, the directional wilds feature keeps the base game extremely enjoyable and the free spins bonus round is great, if you’re lucky to get into it. The only thing we’d perhaps change is the fact that you can’t re-trigger the free spins, which is a bit of a shame.

Cazino Zeppelin

If you’re wondering where the odd name comes from, it’s related to the fact that Cazino Zeppelin has an equally odd theme and setting…a 1930s airship that also happens to be home to a casino! An interesting concept from Yggdrasil Gaming that’s undeniably atmospheric, spins are up for grabs from 20p to a maximum of £10 and a couple of special features are thrown in for good measure.

The reels are populated by a group of gamblers who look…well, the only word that comes to mind is ‘odd’. Among the punters taking a trip on the Cazino Zeppelin, the most lucrative you’ll be on the lookout for is the pipe smoking chap, who could see you walking away with a 2,000-coin payout if you manage to land five in a row. There are also the usual playing card symbols on the reels, which are worth considerably less…as per.

As you’d expect, it’s the Free Spins feature you’ll be keeping your fingers crossed for during your trip, which can be accessed by landing at least three scatter symbols in any positions. Long with an instant win worth 40 coins, three scatter symbols will score you 10 free spins, four will be worth 15 and five will score you the maximum of 20 free spins. Keeping the action even more interesting are the sticky wilds and wild transfers that come into play during the free spins feature.

At the time you enter the free spins round, every wild that’s currently on the board will be transferred over and stay right where it is for the whole of the feature. In addition, any further wilds that land during the feature will stick in place until the end of the round. If you manage to get wild symbols on all five of the reels, you’ll be rewarded with another five free spins, though this can only happen once. Still, if things pan out in your favour with the wilds, it’s possible to take home some seriously impressive prizes with every free spin!

While Cazino Zeppelin may be an affordable slot for a few spins, don’t be fooled into thinking it’s a low-variance slot for amateurs. Quite to the contrary, the developers stated at the time Cazino Zeppelin launched that it was designed specifically for high-rollers, so it’s hardly a surprise that it’s an extremely high-variance slot. Or in other words, you can pretty much guarantee extended dry spells when it won’t pay out a penny at all. But on the plus side, if you’re able to manage your efforts strategically enough and stick with it, the prizes Cazino Zeppelin does eventually pay out tend to be rather on the generous side!
